Designlandia 에 대해서

 

Designlandia는 2~6학년 영어권 학생에게 혁신적인 창의력과 자신감을 키워줄 방과 후 프로그램입니다. 학생들은 팀을 이루어 까다로운 문제들을 해결하며, 세상을 개선하는 데 도움을 줄 것입니다. 학생들은 팀원들과 읽기와 인터뷰를 통해 연구함으로써 문제의 본질에 대한 이해를 추구합니다. 다음으로 각 팀들은 실현 가능한 해결책을 만들기 위해 서로 협력합니다. 일단 해결책을 개발하면, 각 팀들은 자신의 아이디어를 쓰기와 말하기를 통해 다른 팀에게 발표하며, 이에 대한 피드백을 받아 아이디어를 더욱 발전시킵니다. 학생들은 디자인 사고 과정으로 읽기, 쓰기, 말하기, 듣기를 연습하게 될 것입니다.

 

디자인 사고 과정을 배우는 것 뿐만 아니라, 학생들은 어휘, 에세이 및 보고서 쓰기, 문법, 독해, 그리고 사회 정서 능력도 배울 것입니다. 이러한 기회를 통해 학생들은 자신의 사고에 대한 자신감을 강화하고, 주변 및 세상을 위해 배려하는 것의 중요성을 깨닫는 데 도움이 될 것으로 봅니다. 우리는 각각의 아이들이 세상을 더 나은 곳으로 바꿀 수 있는 힘을 가지고 있다고 믿는다. 그러한 사명을 이루기 위해, 우리는 참여적이고, 존중받으며, 보람 있는 학습 환경을 제공하기 위해 최선을 다하고 있습니다.

 

이러한 독창적인 과정은 디자인 사고 과정을 사용하는 것에 기초합니다. 

디자인 사고란 무엇일까요? 그것은 창의적인 디자인을 통해 문제를 해결하는 인간 중심의 방법입니다. 문제를 발견하는 것은 인간의 경험에 대한 공감과 깊은 이해로부터 시작됩니다. 문제를 명확히 한 후, 학생들은 사람들의 삶을 향상시키는 혁신적인 해결책을 설계하기 위해 창의적인 아이디어를 실험합니다. 디자인 사고 과정은 스탠퍼드, 하버드, MIT와 같은 일류 대학들이 가르치고 있으며, 전 세계 기업들은 혁신을 위해 이를 사용하고 있습니다. 또한, 미국의 학교들은 디자인 사고가 학생들이 미래의 직업에서 성공하기 위해 필요한 기술들을 제공할 수 있는 힘이 있다고 인지해서, 그들의 커리큘럼에 디자인 사고를 시행해오고 있습니다.  미래에는 더 많은 혁신가가 필요하며 디자인 사고는 공감에 기반하여 혁신할 수 있는 기술을 제공합니다.

Designlandia is an after-school program for 2nd - 6th grade English-speaking students. We develop our student's confidence and creativity so that they can be ready for an uncertain future. In small classes of 6 students, students will work in teams to solve tricky challenges that will help improve our world. In these teams, students will do research through reading and interviews to gain a better understanding of the problem. Teams will then collaborate to create possible solutions. Once teams develop a solution, they will present their ideas in both writing and speaking to gain feedback on how they can develop their ideas. Students will practice reading, writing, speaking, and listening as part of the design process. 

 

In addition to learning the design thinking process, students will also learn vocabulary, essay and report writing, grammar, reading, and social emotional skills. We believe that this opportunity will strengthen our students’ confidence in their own thinking and help them understand the importance of caring for the world around them. We believe that each child has the power to change the world into a better place. To achieve that mission, we are committed to providing an engaging, respectful, and rewarding learning environment.
 

This unique opportunity is based on using the design thinking process. But what is design thinking? It is a human-centered way to solve problems through creative design. It starts with an empathetic and deep understanding of the human experience to uncover a problem. After being clear on the problem, students then experiment with creative ideas to then design an innovative solution that improves the life of others.  The design thinking process is being taught by top universities like Stanford, Harvard, and MIT and is used by businesses around the world to innovate. Also, American schools have begun to implement design thinking into their curriculum since they recognize its ability to provide students with the skills needed to be successful in future work. The future needs more innovators and design thinking gives people the skills to innovate with empathy in mind.
